Hyperbaric Indications
Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy involves breathing high flow oxygen in a pressurized chamber to increase oxygen levels in blood plasma.
Plasma is the liquid surrounding our hemoglobin that carries these red cells and proteins throughout the body, and comprises 55% of our total blood volume.
A century of clinical research has shown that increased oxygen in plasma accelerates our natural ability to heal through neurogenesis and angiogenesis.
In addition, HBOT upregulates over 8000 anti-inflammatory genes and activates the release of stem cells and growth factors associated with the body’s regenerative and reparative processes. This means accelerated healing!
The American FDA cleared HBOT chambers to treat non-healing wounds, carbon monoxide poising, crush Injuries, decompression sickness, sudden hearing loss, and eleven other indications back in 1990. A key consideration for the expanded use of HBOT, centers on the fact that acute and chronic inflammation causes and/or worsens chronic diseases, traumas, burns, wounds, crush injuries, etc.
Globally, HBOT is used to extend life by augmenting the treatment of all injuries, diseases and infections as well as to improve overall wellness and the physical performance of athletes.
In Russia and China, over 3000 hyperbaric hospitals (compared to less than 100 small private clinics currently in the U.S, and two MOH chambers in Auckland and Christchurch) are already using HBOT for numerous inflammatory conditions (see partial list below) as well as for overall wellness.
